Far Cry 2 is a first person shooter that is based in Africa. Africa, the continent of the wilderness, the guerrilla wars and the diamond struggles, is the setting for one of the most detailed and worked first person shooters ever. You play the role of a mercenary who is sent to Africa to kill a weapons dealer who has armed both sides of a war that is killing a whole country. Once you arrive there, you get malaria, so you have to make friends to get your fix of the cure. Then you are off to finding this man and taking care of him, in a bloody, bloody way. The one great thing about this game, besides the graphics, is that it allows you to take any approach that you might want to complete your mission. The maps are huge and you can go anywhere at any time. You can complete your missions in pretty much any order, as long as you remain alive. You will make friends that will save you when you get wounded. You can also heal yourself by using tweezers to remove bullets from your arms, and things like that. The graphics are terribly awesome. Did I mention that if you have to take down a house with enemies, you can simply set the grass on fire and the fire will realistically expand and burn them alive? That is a first!
- Great graphics. Compelling story
- Great open-world approach
